Robotics as a field has many applications. Join a panel of faculty members from different disciplines at Jacobs University to learn more about our Robotics department's inter and transdisciplinary research projects led by Dr. Francesco Maurelli, Study Program Chair of Robotics and Intelligent Systems. Details below:
• Duckietown Autonomous Driving is more and more real. In Duckietown, we help nice yellow ducks move around a city. We can discover and address challenges related to smart cities and new developments in an exciting field.
• Robotics at Vulcan Island In a small island just off Sicily, Italy, Jacobs University has been actively exploring the volcanic environment on top of the volcano, and in the sea. Learn more about this interdisplinary project between robotics, marine science, and volcanology with the use of underwater vehicles and drones Special guest: Prof. Dr. Vikram Unnithan, Professor of Geosciences
• Robotics and Planetary Exploration Space missions require the involvement of robotics and intelligent systems. Learn more about current projects on the exploration of the lunar caves, in collaboration with the European Space Agency. Special guest: Prof. Dr. Angelo Pio Rossi, Professor of Earth and Planetary Science
• Humanoid Robots and Emotions Human-robot interaction is a very important field in a society where robotics systems are having a more and more important role. Humanoid robots are very well suited to explore this interesting field. How is trust built between a human and a machine? Can robots understand human emotions? Special guest: Prof. Dr. Arvid Kappas, Dean and Professor of Psychology
